With the original design by Thomas Romein from 1870 as our guiding principle, our task was to restore this building to its former glory and energise and modernise it where possible.
The wall dividing the classic downstairs suite from the former small kitchen was torn down to create a single light and spacious room. The original corridor has remained clearly visible in the structure of the house, but is now part of the new live-in kitchen. New steel elements give the house a sense of modernity, making it light and transparent. The floors were restored to their original condition. A beautiful colour scheme was created with colours from the Farrow & Ball collection.
It is now a cosy home for this young family where each member has found his or her own place.
